Edward Hubbard, Advisor
Edward brings over twenty years of experience to his position in a
variety of roles ranging from founder, executive, engineer and product
planner at United Devices, Dell, Intel and Microsoft.
As the Founder of United Devices, Edward raised over $30M in venture
capital for the company and held the positions of Chief Marketing Officer,
President and CEO. Edward was named a Bio-IT World Champion in 2002
and in 2004 United Devices won Computerworld's 21st Century Achievement
Award for its "visionary use of information technology in the category
of medicine". Edward built the company to millions of dollars in
revenue and more than 100 customers during his tenure.
Prior to United Devices, Edward played pivotal roles in a number of
initiatives for the CTO of Dell as well as Dell's executive team. From
starting a new Software and Applications group in Dell labs to acting
as the Senior Product Planner for a new class of hardware, Edward worked
with a number of groups and in a number of capacities leveraging both
his business and technical backgrounds across Dell.
Prior to joining Dell, Edward held various engineering, marketing and
management positions at Intel and Microsoft.
Edward is a published author, holds issued patents and is the author
of more than 20 patent applications. He has spoken at numerous industry
conferences and events including PC Expo, Technologic Partners Tech
Outlook Conference, SOFTBANK's Venture Forum, Red Herring's NDA Conference,
Comdex, Intel CEO Summit, the Highlands Forum, Mobius Venture Capital
Forum, IBM Life Science Seminar Series, and the North Carolina GRID
Symposium. Edward has also appeared on a number of radio and television
programs including broadcast segments on CNBC, CNN, NBC, ABC and TechTV.
Edward is a former ASE certified mechanic, holds degrees in Computer
Engineering and Information Systems, and earned an MBA from the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
